Looking to make it 2 wins in a row for the first time this season East Coast started the game with a line up of Marty Howes, Aidan Flatt, Jamie Ayers, Matt Eagle, Jamie Mortimer, Tim Dynan, Mikey Cookson, Chris Sturley, Sam Binks, Dan Croft and Rob Hall. Simon Cottingham was on the bench to rotate with the midfield and Sam Daniels rotated with the forwards.
East Coast started on the front foot and carved the opponents on a number of occasions. In the 20th minute they took a deserved lead. A quick free hit taken by Jamie Ayers was pushed with force around the penalty spot, a clever first touch finish by Dan Croft made it 1-0.
Bury had a number of short corners but failed to capitalise as East Coast defended resolutely. Jamie Mortimers running stopped any routines coming off for the opponents. Matt Eagle battled hard and would not be intimidated by any playground punch and judy style tacts from opponents.
East Coast doubled there lead with 10 minutes left of the half. Neat work by Sam Binks and Dan Croft on the right fed the ball perfectly to Rob Hall on the top of the D, who with a little shimmy found space and a pin point reverse hit found its way in the bottom left hand corner for a 2-0 lead to the blues.
Unfortunately for East Coast their lead was halved right on the stroke of half time. A good run by the Bury striker found him baring down on goal. Despite Marty Howes and Jamie Ayers efforts to halt the strike, a finish from a tight angle made it 2-1 as the half time whistle blew.
East Coast had ran their little cotton socks off and had to keep up the intensity to ensure the 3 points came home.
The second half started with a mountain of pressure from Bury who were testing the defenders engine. Mikey Cookson, Tim Dynan and Simon Cottingham worked hard to keep attacks at a minimum, with Chris Sturley having to take himself off at the start of the second half due to a tight hamstring.
East Coast absorbed the pressure well and against the run of play were awarded a short corner following a counter attack. The injection from Rob Hall was slightly wayward, but Dan Croft thought quickly on his feet, took the ball into the D and smashed the ball into the bottom corner for a 3-1 win much to the delight of the sold out crowd.
Despite being 3-1 up, East Coast struggled to maintain possession for large amounts of the second half. Bury took advantage of a short corner, Marty Howes with a good save initially before the rebound found itself to a striker who bundled the ball into the goal. 3-2.
Just minutes after it was 3-3. A Bury player at the byline reverse hit the ball across the face of goal. Matt Eagle couldn't do much about it and unfortunately directed the ball into the goal.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, East Coast managed to retake the lead they'd had for so long in the game. Sam Daniels carried the ball well down the left wing, a fantastic cross allowed Rob Hall to touch the ball into the goal and go flying into the post Peter Cech style. Fortunately they're was no serious injury and he could carry on.
The full time whistle blew after a frantic closing few minutes, East Coast had sealed the win.
Motm - Mikey Cookson.
